Special Assistant to the Executive Director with National Council on Educating Black Children
Organize and facilitate multiple program and community outreach campaigns annually including annual national convention, weekly radio show, and special projects, as necessary. Manage all areas of marketing and public relations including effective use of ConstantContact (eblasts), social media, high-level correspondence, and strategic planning. Serve as Technical Producer for NCEBCTalkRadio (weekly live broadcast via BlogTalkRadio) and as a second-voice for Executive Director, when necessary.
I have known Ms. Smith for the past four (4) years, since the fall of 2009 when she began working with NCEBC. Initially, Ms. Smith was responsible for helping to organize our annual convention. Typically, thousands of educators and others from all over the country attend the convention to take advantage of the opportunity to learn and network. Ms. Smith immediately grasped NCEBC’s mission and the goals of the convention. She put her tremendous organizational skills and incredible vision to work and more than fulfilled her initial responsibility to help us to design a successful convention. As a result of her efforts, the convention was chock-full of comprehensive information for participants to take back to their students and colleagues and also provided a comfortable platform for attendees and panelists to connect with one another. Ms. Smith quickly gained my trust and the trust of the NCEBC Board and staff. NCEBC invited Ms. Smith into the role of Special Assistant to the Executive Director and we have been thrilled with her creativity and drive, her passion and commitment to the work that we do, and her unrelenting belief that the work she does and the work of NCEBC will make a difference in this world.
Ms. Smith consistently goes above and beyond all of our expectations. Since I have known her, she has helped NCEBC to think strategically so that we might plan for the future in all of our activities and events; she has worked hand-in-hand with me to develop an internet-radio show for NCEBC with paying sponsors; she has helped us navigate personnel transitions with ease; and she has planned every annual convention since her first, each year improving on her stellar performance from the year before.
Ms. Smith has demonstrated initiative and innovation. She has an incredible work ethic and is ever mindful of NCEBC’s mission as she proposes new heights to which we should aspire. I trust her judgment sometimes more than I trust my own, especially with ways to implement new technology and expand our outreach via social media. I value her input, and I recommend her, without reservation. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have.
Diana Daniels, Executive Director for the National Council on Educating Black Children

Alexis' willingness to accept the media challenges our organization encountered and listen to input has enabled her to contribute thoughtful, well-reasoned approaches to helping further the NCEBC brand. Catherine Woods, Founder/CEO, Women's Interdependence Network, WinOne
I first worked with Alexis J. Smith in 2009 as she helped me outline a strategic vision for my community-focused non-profit initiative “Student Athletes in Christ” (a youth development program.) Since then, she has stayed true to her pledge to be available to my family and me as we continue to serve our communities’ needs. In my current role as a Career Transition Services Director for the Woodstock Job Corps Program, Alexis and her team at Entitled to Educate, LLC have been a greatly valued asset to our continued progress both internally (via her “Conflict Resolution” Professional Development and Coaching Series) as well as the customized and effective “On the Job Training” (OJT) she has excellently planned and repeatedly implemented with our job corps students. Working with Entitled to Educate has been a blessing and I look forward to another opportunity to do so in the near and ongoing future.
